We are having way too much fun at PruCheek and we demand that you join us! Our goal is to make catty cards with a touch of "cheek", love, and color. We know life can be a "bee-atch" at times but if you go about it with the right attitude of "hey; no sweat" and ok; this is kind of ri"donk"culous but keep on moving on; you find that laughter and love fill up the spaces in between.

How'd we Get Here?
Prucheek is the first three letters of my last name, Pruitt, and cheek! Cards with cheek or that are cheeky.

Prucheek began in 2005 with a few photos copied at Kinko’s. We added some language and sold them locally. Not great quality but people purchased them.  I really believed there was and is room for improvement in quality greeting cards for african americans, and, anyone with people of color in their lives. They’re also for anyone who loves seeing our past and current pop culture reflected in the greeting cards they purchase.

I went to the National Stationery Show in New York in 2006 and got in some stores on the East coast and the Midwest. I went back to the show in 2007 with a completely different type of card called “Quizzin Art”.  Each card had a fun little quiz and the design was mostly fonts of different sizes.  I got asked to write for several companies but I want to keep all of that copy for my own cards.

I consider myself a wordsmith but I cannot draw a stick figure! I finally figured out that I needed some professional design work to improve the quality of my greeting cards. In 2012 I was looking for help with web design and a friend recommended her niece who is co- owner of MSLK Design in New York. What started out as hiring for the web work turned into working with them to re-design my cards.  They offered some great advice and I ended up  hiring them to “360” my business!

I knew I wanted bright colors and the words to “speak” though the photos are certainly a important part of the message. MSLK brought my thoughts to life came up with what are my current greeting cards! This was when my kitties Hoss & Allie got added into the design. Quite frankly they wouldn’t let me do it without them!

The fabulous models in the photos are my fabulous family: assorted cousins, aunts, uncles, friends. My mom is the “Don’t hate me because I’m beautiful” woman. She’s in her eighties and still fabulous. That card is our bestseller.

If I could send one of my cards to somebody famous, I would send Oprah the Bad Bangs card.

As we keep growing and adding products please tell us what you think. We'd love to hear from you!
